Hi! Welcome to ELL 5 with Laura! I'm excited to be your teacher. I look forward to helping you practice and improve your English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Each month you will learn new vocabulary words, review grammar, and practice English related to the month's topic. You will have the opportunity to practice speaking, listening, reading and writing English skills every day. This class meets Monday through Thursday from 8:30 - 11:30 in room 1307. You are expected to maintain a monthly attendance of at least 50% (6 hours/week, 2 out of 4 days) in order to improve your skills and keep your place in class. However, you will improve more if you come to class 3 or 4 days every week. Our monthly themes include: Health, Jobs, Housing, and Community. PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, OR IF YOU ARE ABSENT FROM CLASS. [email protected] 651-744-4864
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
I love being a teacher at Hubbs Center because I love to work with adults and help them reach their goals. I have traveled to many places: Chile, Bolivia, India, Denmark, Croatia, Mexico and to many states in the U.S.A. I have studied 3 languages: French, Marathi and Spanish. I speak Spanish. I was born in Chicago, and we moved quite a few times while I was growing up. When I was 13, we moved to Madison, Wisconsin and my parents still live there today. I finished high school in Madison, and I went to college in Minnesota. I was a 3rd grade teacher in St. Paul for 8 years, and I have been teaching adults at the Hubbs Center since 2006. I live in St. Paul with my husband and 2 children, and we have a dog named Sadie. I love to go hiking, camping, and canoeing. I enjoy reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, singing, and spending time with friends and family.
